New Musical Order

Promoting Free + Legal Music Downloads from Independent and Mainstream Musicians

RadioWednesday: Dragon Radio

Dragon Radio aired its first podcast on March 9th, 2005.  Since then, it has been bringing the best of Asian music to the English speaking world.

Hosted by American, Tony Reno, the show is a half-hour in length and features music from all over Asia.  The only format restriction is that all the songs played on Dragon Radio are sung in the native language of origin.

Dragon Radio tries not to repeat playing the same bands over and over, but on occasion will play new tracks from bands we have featured in the past.

Our listeners can subscribe to the podcast or listen to the show directly from our website, myspace, facebook, or even on US based AM station KYOU Radio.

You can follow then on Twitter (@dragon_radio), and visit the website at www.DragonRadio.asia. Alternatively, you can Subscribe in iTunes.

Free Public Domain Blues Music

I recently found a blog post by WorldofBlues.com regarding a website that makes available loads of now public domain blues recordings absolutely free.

If you don’t know copyright, it lasts for about 75 years (depending on the region). After that, the work becomes the property of everyone, and we can use or repurpose it as we wish.

To that end, this resource is quite cool. There’s at least 50 tracks available for download - mostly blues, but I must admit I haven’t been through them all.

Check them out at PublicDomain4U.com.

Liquid Frequency ~ Kalila

By Dan1 comment »

Compiled by Audio Psykosis and released by Liquid Frequency, Kalila is a sizzling darkpsy release showcasing the mind-altering sounds of the Indian psytrance underground. The title of this compilation is taken from the Panchatantra, an ancient fable chronicling the search for a “mountain herb that was believed to restore life to the dead.”

This release has been mastered by Kri @ Audiovalve with paintings by Dhiren Sasmal, a celebrated artist and illustrator from West Bengal, and digital design by Yidam.

You can download Kalila from http://www.ektoplazm.com/free-music/kalila/.

Tons of Free Music from the Chris Trout Archives!

Something a bit different today, in the sense that we’re pointing you at streams rather than downloads!

Chris Trout is someone I’d NEVER heard of. Ever. That is until I got talking to Chris Ovenden over at Banjolin. He’s been developing Chris Trout’s website, and finally launched it to the world this week.

Chris Trout is a songwriter, multi-instrumentalist and journalist born in 1966. His websites is becoming the definite archive of his work, collecting - it appears - everything he’s ever been involved in, including his music.

When I say music, I mean 21 albums of the stuff! All available to stream absolutely free. No downloads as far as I can see, but still…!

Find out more about Chris and listen to the streams at www.MisterChrisTrout.com.

New Brad Sucks Demos Available!

We’ve seen many a release from Brad here on NMO, but we really can’t get enough Brad!

Handy then that he’s just released some new demo tracks on his website, www.BradSucks.net. We were informed yesterday of the new demos, which notably include Brad’s cover of ‘Heart and Soul’ by Hewel Lewis & The News!

As with most Brad-related shenanigans, everything is available to download FREE as high-quality MP3s.

Check ‘em out… http://www.bradsucks.net/archives/tag/demo/

RadioWednesday: Guardian Music Weekly

The Guardian in the UK has an absolutely brilliant website. Clean, simple, and lots and lots of extra content, including podcasts.

You can find a list of all the podcasts they produce here, but we’re only interested in Music Weekly, their new music show.

Presented by Paul MacInnes and Rosie Swash (was her dad a pirate?), the show features interviews and live tracks as well as music news and reviews.

Published friday, you can find out more at http://www.guardian.co.uk/music/series/musicweekly, and subscribe in iTunes here.

Hear the new Tinariwen album Exclusively with Songlines

Continuing on the World Music Day theme from yesterday (OK, we know it’s no longer World Music Day), we want to tell you about an exclusive full-album stream from Songlines.

The new album from Mali’s world blues rockers Tinawiren is released on 29th June on Independiente, and contains 13 brand new tracks featuring Tinariwen’s signature sound.

As well as the full-stream on Songlines, The Guardian are also offering a free track from the new album.

RadioWednesday Special: Mondomix Experience

If you’re into world music, you may know that today is World Music Day. And we thought it only right to mark the occassion here at NMO, with a special RadioWednesday post. And yes, we know it’s Sunday!

We’ve found this great little weekly podcast called Mondomix Experience - which is part of the well-renowned Mondomix magazine.

The podcast features 5 world music tracks every week, is available in iTunes or and as RSS feed or download from the site. It’s very short, just introducing the tracks and playing them. The only downside? The introductions are in french!

Find out more at MondoMix, and enjoy World Music Day!

Free MP3s from SoundsXP

Tracy Dempsey of SoulAmbition recently pointed us at SoundsXP - the Alternative Music Webzine.

As well as singles and album reviews, news and gig listings, SoundsXP also offers an ever-expanding list of links to completely free MP3s which you can download.

Updated daily, the list includes indie, folk, alt-country and indie-pop tracks from a variety of artists, both unsigned and mainstream.

There’s even an RSS feed which includes the free downloads, though sadly there isn’t a specific feed for them.

You can find the site at www.SoundsXP.com. It’s a great resource that’s well worth a visit!
