Antony Raijekov ~ Jazz U
Antony Raijekov is a classically trained jazz musician originally from Bulgaria, but now living in Vienna where he is studying jazz paino at the Vienna Konservatorium.
Jazz U brings together many disparate genres that you really wouldn’t expect to see - I think the best way of describing it is “instrumental trip-hop jazz” - if there is such a thing!
The combination of slow trip-hop beats, mixed with ambient, ethnic sounds and jazz influence make for a really interesting, but easy, listening experience.
And to be honest - it works really well!
The album features 12-tracks, with varying tempos and slightly different styles - athough paino does feature quite heavily on many tracks (but then being classically trained, you’d expect that, no?)
So… definitely one to check out if you’re looking for something a little bit different.
