I recently found Rock Proper - a netlabel founded by Jay Bennett - a guitarist/producer from Illinois.
Rock Proper promotes its artists through free digital album downloads, released - naturally enough - under the Creative Commons license. Share, burn, do what you like - let’s just get the music out there!
It’s a great philosophy - especially if you can maintain an income in other ways.
‘Whatever Happens I Apologise’ is the latest release from Jay Bennett, and sadly - it will be the last, as he recently passed away. That said, I’m not sure if the album was released posthumously or not.
The album contains 10 tracks of Indie tunes, written, performed and produced by Jay himself.
A fine swansong for a great artist.
