This is the second solo album from Swedish artist Perrson.

Persson’s music is instrumental blues rock, and “Blues For A Soldier” contains 12 of his finiest tracks to date. Recorded in 2007, the album contains 2 dedications. The tune “Trouble on Monday” to musician Thommie Johansson who died in 2004, and the title track to the soldies of Vietnam.

When you meet someone you will love forever, you know it at a glance. This happens rarely but it’s there, clear as day, staring you in the face like a translucent ox.

These random sentences are taken from the web page for Candles and Bombs. Described as “Nutty Algebraic Polyphony”, the music is excellent. Intricate, multi-textured rhythms combine with dancetastic beats to produce something which, we think you’ll agree, is rather special.

First of all, Song Sparrow Research have one of the best designed websites I’ve seen in ages. Gritty yet clean, but completely devoid of any real information. So you’ll forgive me if this today’s post is a little light on facts.

I first heard about Song Sparrow Research from Charles McEnerney of Well Rounded Radio. “Welcome to the Potato Famine” was one his albums of 2009. Any recommendation from Charlie deserves a listen.

So… the 4-peice hail from Seattle, and produce a sound that is very difficult to describe. It’s almost indie-folk, but it’s heavier and a lot looser, almost Jazz-like in it’s freedom.
